Computer Backup
Losing important files is one of the dreaded scenarios when working on computers. To avoid the nuisance of doing your work again when your computer bogs down or crashes, computer backup your files.
A computer backup is storing of copies of your files on a device other than your hard disk. You make a computer backup to protect your files in the event that your hard disk crashes down or a virus damages your files.
Computer Backup Devices
There are various computer backup devices that you can choose from depending on your preference. With so many computer backup devices, it's quite difficult to decide which one to purchase. Before you actually purchase a computer backup device, you must do the following things:
- Assess your computer backup needs. If you need to backup large files, then you need a computer backup device that could accommodate your files.
- Find a backup program that would help you organise the files that you need to backup.
- Assess the capabilities of your computer. If your computer have CD or DVD writer, you might opt to use CDs and DVDs as computer backup devices. If your computer has USB ports, then a USB storage device might be the better option. Or if the files are huge and can't be accommodated by the USB and DVDs, then an external hard drive might be more helpful.
- Compare the capacities of the computer backup devices. It's important that you know the capacities of the computer backup devices. Remember that each computer backup device has its limitations.
- Determine how much money you're willing to spend on a computer backup device. If you do your maths right, you'll be able to narrow down your choices according to your budget.
